About Me

Who I Am As A Writer

I still remember when writing hit me for the first time, sixth grade, having watched the series Otherworld, I set about writing my first book. Both myself and the kid that sat next to me challenged each other to see who could write the most pages. I don't remember who won, but I think we both did.

I'm driven by the insatiable need to both learn and create, a polymath at the most basic level. And nothing inspires me more than being around people who are driven in the same way.

As an adult, and outside of college papers, I dove back into the world of writing with NaNoWriMo, doing it twice. While those books did get finished, I still hadn't found my stride. Along the way I wrote two screenplays, one full length, and one experimental...and that screenplay became the seed that turned into a manuscript that is in its forth revision and what I plan to publish for real.

My Influences

My love for Sci-Fi started in my grandparents basement, PBS, randomly discovered Doctor Who. I still remember the feeling of seeing the episode, with Leela, the invisible radiation monster. Later, I discovered Douglas Adams and the Hitchhiker's Guide to the Galaxy (including the INFOCOM game). Then Star Wars, then Logan's Run, then on and on and on.

Book wise, because that's why you are here, and outside of Douglas Adams, there is Asimov, Vonnegut, Fonda Lee, Adrian Tchaikovsky, Peter Watts, Pierce Brown, Andy Weir, Hugh Howey, William Gibson, Naam Ramez...I mean, let's face it, there isn't enough electrons on your computer to probably finish this list. I also read Fantasy, Who dun it, Horror and probably a hundred other sub-genres and sub-sub-genres.

Now I can't stop; Twin Peaks, X-Files, Fringe, From, Aliens, Blade Runner, Altered Carbon, Control, Silent Hill...

Current Work In Progress

I have a short story coming out in an Anthology, more details (and a link) soon with a writers group I am a part of (and now on the editorial board).

I have a novel in forth revision...soon!

Where Can You Find Me

Always waxing poetic on FaceBook...which means being silly most of the time.

The Day Job

I'm a microelectronics electrical engineer who has been designing microchips for a long time. I've helped design parts in computers, cellphones, satellites, video cameras, game systems, hearing aids, and even something sitting on the surface of Mars!

I've been a research scientist, a technical writer, and I've even been involved with Quantum Computing and building designs using superconductors.

Music

I also write music, my latest work being a down-tempo LP inspired by Vivaldi's Four Seasons:

Audio/Visual Synthesizer Business

I also design audio/visual synthesizers for the eurorack format, which you can find here:

Erogenous Tones

Narrative Work

And finally, I've both acted and been the technical director, sound design, 3D modelling, and a million other jobs with Beat Down Boogie.
