Book Review : The Murder of Roger Ackroyd

‍This book is regarded as one of Agatha Christie’s best works and I have to say, it did not disappoint.  For a book released over 100 years ago, you’d never know.  The characters are well crafted, especially the protagonist’s sister that I loved her busy-body nature.  This was also my first exposure to Poirot and I have to say, what a snappy character, full of mystery, full of making you use those little grey cells.  I can see that Knives Out had to model Benoit Blanc after Poirot.  I think one of the best parts of this story is I figured it out maybe 15 minutes before the end and I loved that I didn’t know that until it was inevitable.  There was no one else left.  Some of my favorite scenes were the Mahjong scene as so much flavor text.  And the usage of a dictaphone.  I could go on and on.
