This book was mentioned as enjoyable for people that enjoyed The Martian, and I can see that if you enjoy the technical aspects. The science in this book was intended to be accurate projecting forward. I felt the beginning of the book started strong in that the character Sandy was a lot of fun. However, 2/3 into the book, Sandy kind of disappeared for most of what was going on with the antagonist viewpoint being shown. I felt during this part, I didn’t enjoy the story as much because we lost the main characters as we switched into the extra terrestrial aspects. It wasn’t that these parts weren’t fun, but the shift outward away from the characters were a disappointment. At this point, there was no question of how the end would come back around. You knew the Americans would hide something somehow to get the technology back to them. I really wanted to see some extended science fiction based on what was in the alien information, but we got very little in the prologue. So in the end, it was an interesting story from a technical perspective, but I really was hoping for more in the future scientific part of it.
