Book Review: Lock In

The was a very light hearted murder mystery book.  I love how the beginning started, with some really interesting intrigue about a body and a sofa.  I didn’t realize the story wouldn’t be super deep so the main character, Chris, didn’t really get into much of the deeper dynamics of the Haden situation.  The other interesting thing is Scalzi decided to not indicate the gender of the main character and even released two versions of the audio book.  While this was an interesting decision, I think some of the story suffered from it because you couldn’t get close to the character from a gender specific view of the world.  Now given this was a murder mystery, I think that is okay, but the whole of the story was pretty basic.  That said, the Haden usage was fun and I definitely enjoyed the book.
