I don’t normally read Horror often, but this book leads into a post apocalyptic landscape and, well, this book was awesome. It just kept you wondering what was going on and led you through all this craziness going on. For most of the book it was non-stop action and definitely no punches were held back. I could totally see this book and the sequel turning into a movie. If I were to give it one critique, it was some of the backstories. Especially Mathew Cotton and the band. There was so much history dumped on the reader at a time when it didn’t really change the story. In other parts, necessary bits of the bands history came in and made a lot of sense to learn. I felt Samantha Weils history went on for a bit as well that seemed over indulgent. But, honestly, these are minor compared to the story. Now I will say, the end of book one leaves a lot open, so it’s good I was able to start immediately on the sequel. Definitely a recommend.
