Book Review: Bird by Bird

I read a lot of books about writing, but so far, none of been books about being a writer.  This book talks about the struggle of writing itself, the variety of thoughts everyone has and are probably embarrassed to share.  Sometimes you wonder if you are cut out for writing, and this book, this wonderfully crafted book of advice, puts its arms around you and says, there, there, it’s okay.  We all go through it.  We all deal with jealousy, and imposter syndrome, and disappointment, and the utter terror of not getting something done on time.  But guess what, don’t give up.  Take the time to heal, to get over yourself, and get right back at it, just like everyone else that has had those same feelings before you.  First drafts are supposed to be messy, something you might rather not share with yourself even.  But, every day, you get back on that horse and you keep going, because somewhere inside, there is a fire burning that won’t ever go out unless you stop feeding it.

Seriously, this is a book most everyone should read.  It will make you feel better in so many ways.
