Starting the year out with a bang, book 3 of the Nexus trilogy. This is one of those books that I’d consider as go big or go home. This book definitely does that, opening up to the entire world. While I think Crux was the most intense of the series, this book is an exploration into how bad can it get. I think the beginning is super strong. Later on, there are so many moving parts, it does get a bit complex. But, I think it delivers on the message of the whole series. My only real critique I have on the third book is the muted importance of Kade in most of the story. I’d have liked to see him be a bit more active before his solution at the end. I felt his role melded into the background with the bigger players and given how much he was a focus in book one, I wanted to feel like it wrapped back around. That said, that does not change my appreciation for this series and I would whole heartedly recommend this to any forward thinking hard sci-fi fans that want to enjoy speculative fiction on really the birth of a cyberpunk tech as it weaves itself into the positive and negative aspects of life as we know it.
